Lucio Tan Group’s Asia Brewery Inc. (ABI) mobilized its emergency assistance teams following the eruption of Taal Volcano in Batangas on January 12 that caught the nation by surprise.
ABI teams from local sales offices that were immediately deployed partnered with local government units (LGUs) and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to provide clean, safe drinking water to families that were displaced by the volcanic eruption and have sought shelter in evacuation areas.
Over 115,000 bottles of Absolute water were initially donated by ABI to affected towns in Batangas, which include San Nicolas, Sto. Tomas, Agoncillo, Sta. Teresita, Taal, Lemery, Bauan, Talisay and Laurel.
“We are always ready to extend a helping hand to our fellow Filipinos in need, especially during these difficult times. This is just the beginning of the help we’re sending, and we will continuously monitor the situation as well and assess what more we can do to help the evacuees,” Michael G. Tan said.
Phivolcs (Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology) talked about the possibility of more volcanic activity in the coming days and issued a warning to residents of affected areas not to let their guard down.
ABI said it will continue disaster relief operations to areas affected by the Taal Volcano eruption until the situation normalizes.
