Police are investigating after an arrow attached to two packages of meth was shot into an Abbotsford prison.
According to a news release from the Correctional Service of Canada, the attempted delivery took place sometime on Jan. 9 at Abbotsford’s Pacific Institution.
Around 10:50 a.m. that day, staff found a carbon-fibre sporting arrow on the perimeter of the institution. Attached to the arrow were two packages of wha was determined to be nine grams of crystal amphetamine. The estimated value of the delivery is $7,200.
Police were notified and an investigation will be launched.
Last year, more than $86,000 worth of contraband – including a drone, drugs, cellphones and a weapon – were seized at Agassiz’s Kent Institution. Guards said the package was being carried by a drone into the maximum security prison in an attempted delivery.
That package contained 28.9 grams of heroin, 61.6 grams of THC concentrate, 108.2 grams of amphetamines, a ceramic edged weapon, two mini cellphones, one full-size cellphone with four SIM cards, 200 tablets of dianabol steroids and 50 tablets of Arimidex estrogen reducer.
