PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Maj. Gen. Allen Paredes as the new commanding general of the Philippine Air ForceĀ (PAF).
Paredes was recommended by Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana to succeed Lt. Gen. Rozzano Briguez, who is set to hang his uniform on January 17. The change of command ceremony, however, will be held on on Thursday.
Paredes is a member of the Philippine Military Academy’s Maringal Class of 1988.
Prior to his new assignment, Paredes notably served as chief of the Air Logistics Command, the Chief of Air Staff and Wing Commander of the 250th Presidential Airlift Wing.
The Department of National Defense (DND) hailed the appointment of Paredes as the new Air Force chief.
“Maj. Gen. Paredes’ wide experience and sterling record will serve the PAF well as he leads it to new heights. We wish him good luck,” DND spokesman Arsenio Andolong said in a statement. DEMPSEY REYES
