Fourth magnitude 4.1 earthquake rocks Batangas
MANILA, Philippines — A fourth magnitude 4.1 earthquake rocked Batangas province on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake of tectonic origin struck 12:07 p.m., according to Phivolcs, and its epicenter was located four kilometers northeast of Calaca town.
Phivolcs also said the latest tremor in Batangas has a six-kilometer depth of focus.
The earthquake was also felt in Tagaytay City at Intensity III and Olongapo City at Intensity II, it added.
Earlier in the day, three other volcanic earthquakes magnitude 4.1 hit Agoncillo town in Batangas. The first quake struck 6:35 a.m., followed at 4:08 a.m., and 3:11 a.m.
A magnitude 4.0 tremor likewise struck the municipality at 3:24 a.m.
In Laurel town, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake was also felt at 9:07 a.m. Monday.
As of 5 a.m., Phivolcs had already recorded a total of 75 volcanic earthquakes in the Taal Volcano area. Thirty-two of these quakes were felt with intensities ranging from Intensity II to V in Tagaytay City, Cavite; Cabuyao, Laguna; and Talisay, Alitagtag, Lemery, and Bauan in Batangas.
