Black Nazarene cross breaks during procession

THE cross of the Black Nazarene broke on Thursday during its procession in Manila, according to a post by the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) on Twitter.
A photo showed the broken top part of the cross as it made its way along Hidalgo Street before 12 noon.
It was not the first time that the cross of the Black Nazarene broke during its procession. The cross broke in 2019 and 2014 after a “surge of devotees” tried to reach for the image, which is believed to have miraculous powers.
The Nazarene’s 2020 procession began at Quirino Grandstand at 4 a.m. on Thursday and was on its way to Quiapo Church. ARIC JOHN SY CUA
