Cash, drugs, a knife and cellphones were seized during a Port Moody traffic stop after an officer spotted what appeared to be a drug deal conducted through a car window.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 26, a Port Moody police officer spotted a black Mercedes parked in a suspicious location just outside the Port Moody border.

The officer watched as a pedestrian approached the car’s passenger-side window and an apparent drug deal went down.

Shortly after, the passengers in the vehicle and the pedestrian realized a police officer was watching and both parties fled. The officer was able to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle and both the driver and passenger were investigated for possible drug offences.

As a result, police seized cash, several cell phones, a knife and a bag of drugs – believed to be fentanyl and crack cocaine – from the vehicle.

All parties were release at the scene but the investigation is ongoing. Charges have not yet been approved.
