Burnaby boy, 13, sent to hospital following hit-and-run accident

The RCMP is looking for the driver who fled the scene after running over a 13-year-old boy in Burnaby Monday afternoon.
The boy was sent to hospital with serious injuries, including broken bones and a concussion, after he was struck by a vehicle around 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of 17th Avenue and Humphries Street.
Burnaby RCMP say they don’t have a vehicle description at this time and are asking for the public’s help in locating the driver.
Anyone who was in the area of 17th Avenue and Humphries Street between 5 and 5:45 p.m. on Monday and witnessed anything suspicious — such as a vehicle speeding or skidding on the roadway — is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
“If you live in the area and have CCTV cameras or if you were driving in the area at this time and have dash cam footage, please contact police,” Burnaby RCMP said in a release.
