Marino Party-list Representatives Sandro Gonzalez and Macnell Lusotan on December 8, joined Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade, local government officials of Cavite City, and other dignitaries in launching the ferry service from Cavite City to the CCP Grounds and the Lawton Ferry Station, dubbed OK ka, Ferry Ko.
Other projects launched during the event included the registration of recreational and leisure craft and a one-stop shop for seafarers and shipping companies in the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
“The Philippines is a nation of islands whose history and future are tied to the water. I appreciate Secretary Tugade’s efforts which resulted in maximizing our waterways for the benefit of Filipino commuters,” said Gonzalez.
According to Tugade, the ferry service can cut travel time from Cavite to Manila from the current three hours or so to 15 minutes (Cavite City to CCP) or 45 minutes (Cavite CCP to Lawton Ferry Station).
Marino also praised the planned Central Office Processing Center (COPC) of Marina, which aims to provide a one-stop shop for seafarers and shipping companies for all certificates and requirements from Marina.
“Marino Party-list’s ultimate goal is providing a better quality of life for seafarers. Shorter processing times at more accessible centers translates to more time spent with the family for our constituents, thus our support for this project,” said Lusotan.
“The Marino Party-list serves Filipino seafarers, their families, and the Filipino people. We will always support projects which will improve convenience, accessibility, and quality of life for all. We will work together with the Department of Transportation to cut down time spent on paperwork or stuck in traffic in favor of time spent with family and for personal growth,” said Gonzalez.
