PH men, women bowlers strike silver, bronze

THE Philippines finally struck medals in the bowling competition after winning a silver and a bronze in the team of 4 events on Friday at the Coronado Lanes in Starmall EDSA in Mandaluyong City.
The quartet of Kenneth Chua, Patrick Neil Nuqui, Frederick Ong and Merwin Matheiu Tan nabbed the silver in the men’s division after tallying 4,973 points in six rounds.
Singapore’s Ismail Muhammad Rafiq, Tun Al-Hakim Luqman, Tan Chye Chern and Mohd Fishol Ahmad Muaz got the gold with 4,980 points.
Thailand’s Cheng Atchariya, Manuwong Surasak, Arromsaranon Annop and Larp Apharat Yannaphon bagged the bronze with 4,896 points.
In the women’s category, Mariza Liza Del Rosario, Marian Lara Posadas, Bea Katrina Hernandez and Marie Alexis Sy logged 4,735 points to settle for the bronze.
Singapore also snared the gold through Tan Shi Jing Daphne, New Hui Fen, Ng Lin Zhi Shayna and Tan Shi Hua Cherie, who combined for 4,092 points.
Malaysia’s Cheah Mei Lan, Sin Li Jane, Zulkifli Shalin and Abdul Rahman Siti Safiyah Amirah took the silver with 4,803 points. JEREMIAH M. SEVILLA
