Filipina Christine Hallasgo rules women’s marathon in SEA Games

CHRISTINE Hallasgo ruled the women’s marathon to dethrone fellow Filipina and Olympian Mary Joy Tabal in the 30th Southeast Asian Games on Friday at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas, Tarlac.
A native of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Hallasgo pulled away in the final stretch to finish the 42-kilometer race with a time of two hours, 56 minutes, and 56 seconds.
Tabal, a gold medalist in the SEAG 2017, fainted at the finish line to settle for silver after clocking in 2:58:49.
Vietnam’s Pham Thi Hong Le settled for bronze at 3:02:52.
In the men’s marathon, Philippines’ Jerald Zabala (2:37:20) and Anthony Nerza (2:39:28) finished 5th and 6th, respectively.
