6-month state of calamity declared in Camarines Sur

LEGAZPI CITY—Camarines Sur has been placed under a state of calamity on Wednesday after then- Typhoon Tisoy (international name: Kammuri) inundated villages and damaged numerous houses toppled [power and communication lines.

In a resolution certified by acting provincial board secretary Rosario Polillo,  Camarines Sur will be under a state of calamity for six months or until the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council deems it necessary.

24,292 houses were damaged by the typhoon, while 1,964 were destroyed, according to the latest report of the Office of Civil Defense – Bicol.

A state of calamity was also earlier declared in the provinces of Albay and Sorsogon, as well as Naga City, where Tisoy likewise left significant trails of destruction.
