The Land Transportation Office yesterday summoned  a doctor to explain his rude behavior towards a fellow motorist during a road rage incident caught in a video that went viral online.

LTO Law Enforcement Service acting director lawyer Clarence Guinto said that the agency has issued a show cause order against Dr. Tomas Mendez to explain his side on why his license should not be suspended or revoked.

“(We) issued already a show cause order (against him to explain) why his driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked,” Guinto said in a message.

This came after Mendez was caught in a viral video yelling at a motorist whom he accused of almost hitting his car and blocking his way on the road.

In the videos circulating online since Sunday night, Mendez was seen throwing expletives to an L300 driver, who appeared to be a government employee, and insulting his work.

A voice of a woman, which seemed to be a companion of the driver, was also heard in the video saying that Mendez threw things on them first.

A separate video also surfaced online where Mendez was seen shouting to another driver.

The Department of Transportation slammed Mendez’s action which they tagged as an example of a motorist’s misconduct and abusive behavior.

“Kami po ay nananawagan rin sa iba pang ahensya ng pamahalaan katulad ng Professional Regulation Commission at pati na rin sa Philippine Medical Association kung maaari po ay aksyunan ang insidenteng ito bago pa lumala ang sitwasyon o problema,” the DoTr said in a statement.
