Perticheto leads in ice skating short program on Day 1

FILIPINO ice skater Alisson Krystle Perticheto opened the women’s figure ice skating competition on a bright note by gaining the No. 1 spot of the short program ranking event of the 30th Southeast Asian Games Friday at the SM Megamall Skating Rink.
Perticheto was outstanding in all fronts, scoring 30.87 in technical elements, 22.78 from presentation, 5.83 from skating skills, 5.33 from transitions, 5.75 from performance, 5.58 from composition and 6.0 from dance/music interpretation for a total of 53.65 points.
Perticheto was a bronze medalist two years ago in Malaysia SEA Games.
Singapore’s Chloe Ing tallied 50.67 to settle for second place while Savika Refa Zahira of Indonesia had 32.62 points to settle for third.
Cirinia Gillett also of the Philippines ended at ninth place with 20.93 points.
Filipino ice skaters Christopher Caluza and Edrian Paul Celestino reached the top three of the men’s short program competitions.
Caluza finished second with his 62.37 points and Celestino was third with 61.52 points.
Julian Yee of Malaysia ranked first with 63.35 points.
All skaters will compete on Sunday for the second part of their performance, which will determine their final medal ranking. Their current points will be added to their next performance.
