“MARTYRDOM is not about dying for the faith. It is about living for the faith.”
This was the message by Caloocan Bishop Pablo David in his homily during the “Red Wednesday” Mass at the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila in honor of Christians who were persecuted because of their faith.
David called on Christians to harbor no ill-will on their persecutors because even God forgave those who crucified his son, Jesus Christ.
“It is not the business of God to condemn. But to save,” he added.
Red Wednesday was celebrated in more than 2,000 Catholic churches natiowide to remember the persecuted Christians around the world, including the Philippines.
It was launched in 2017 by the Aid to Chuch in Need to create an awareness campaign for the intention of victims of religious persecution. WILLIAM B. DEPASUPIL
