Tropical Storm Ramon to bring rains over Cagayan, parts of Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Cagayan and other provinces in Luzon should brace for rains brought about by Tropical Storm Ramon, the state weather bureau said Saturday.

In a thunderstorm advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that light to moderate rains are expected over Cagayan (Allacapan, Enrile, Lasam, Piat, Rizal, SantoNiño, Solana and Tuao) and Isabela (Divilacan and Santo Tomas), which may persist for 30 minutes to an hour.

Meanwhile, Pagasa added that moderate to occasionally heavy rains are being experienced over Cagayan (Amulung, Baggao, Iguig, Peñablanca and Tuguegarao City).

Light to moderate rains are currently being experienced over Apayao (Kabugao and Luna), Cagayan (Alcala, Gattaran, Gonzaga, Lallo, Pamplona and Santa Ana) and Isabela (Ilagan City and Tumauini), which may persist for one to two hours.

According to Pagasa’s 5 p.m. weather update, Ramon was spotted moving south-southwest over the Philippine sea at 15 kilometers per hour (kph).

Ramon was monitored at 435 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora.

The tropical storm is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near its center, and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
