INTEGRATED Green Technology Inc. (IGTI) is spending $230 million to construct three waste-to-energy (WTE) facilities in the country, its top official said on Friday.

In an interview, IGTI Chief Executive Officer and President Michael Jimenez said two of the planned WTE plants would rise in Mactan and Aloguinsan in Cebu province and third in Umingan in Pangasinan province.

IGTI has partnered with the local government units (LGUs) there for the proposed facilities and commissioned India-based CNIM Martin Private Ltd. as its engineering, procurement and construction contractor, as well as a technology provider.

“We’re targeting [to start construction by the] first quarter of next year, then we’re targeting ending it [in the] first quarter ng [of] 2022. But it really depends [on] the contractor. It could be [completed in] less than three years,” Jimenez told reporters on the sidelines of the Waste-to-Energy Summit 2019 in Quezon City.

“We want to finish it in two years,” he said.

The minimum capacity for the planned WTEs in Cebu is 320 tons a day, with capacity ranging from 17 to 22 megawatts (MW).

The proposed Pangasinan plant would be larger in terms of capacity, since it would process 970 tons a day. According to Jimenez, this would generate about 17 MW.

“We have the technology. We have the contract of the government. We have the land area, tapos meron na ring (and we already secured) funding,” he said.
