FOUR suspects in the robbery-homicide of an advertising executive six years ago were convicted by a local court of reclusion perpetua or up to 40 years in prison.
In a 13-page decision on Friday, Judge Salvador V. Timbang, Jr. of the Las Piñas Regional Trial Court Branch 253 found Lloyd Benedict Enriquez, Samuel Decimo, Kelvin Jorek Evangelista, and Jomar Pepito guilty of killing Kristelle “Kae” Davantes in September 2013.
The court also ordered the four convicts to to indemnify or compensate the family Davantes with the following amount: P50,000 as death indemnity, P50,000, and P25,000 in temperate damages.
A certain Baser Manalang, an accused in the case, remains at-large, while Reggie Diel was discharged as state witness.
On September 7, 2013, Davantes was opening the gate of her Las Piñas City home when she was held at gunpoint by Evangelista while Manalang held her hand.
They forced her back into her own car, pinned her down on the back seat and commandeered her Toyota Altis out of Moonwalk Village, with the others following in another car.
Davantes’ body was found under a bridge in Silang, Cavite. She was gagged with a handkerchief and bore five stab wounds around her neck. JAN ARCILLA
