Maple Ridge man facing multiple firearms offences following standoff

A 43-year-old man is facing is multiple weapons charges in connection with an armed standoff at a Maple Ridge home on Friday.
After Ridge Meadows RCMP received a report of a gun in the area of 12200 Block of 205B Street, the neighbourhood was cordoned off and residents were asked to stay inside their homes as officers from the local detachment and the RCMP’s Emergency Response Unit descended on the scene.
One man, Maziar Seyedfarshi of Maple Ridge, was arrested following a six-hour standoff with police.
Seyedfarshi appeared in Port Coquitlam court on Tuesday and was formerly charged with four separate weapons offences including: possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; possession of an unloaded prohibited or restricted firearm with readily accessible ammunition; possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace or for the purpose of committing an offence; and possession of a firearm, knowing that he wasn’t the holder of a licence.
