One person is in police custody following a stabbing at Vancouver’s International Village Mall on Monday evening.
Around 5:30 p.m., Vancouver police were called to the Chinatown shopping centre near Abbott and Keefer streets for the report of a stabbing.
On arrival, police located an individual with serious injuries. The person was taken to hospital for treatment.
One person is in custody in connection to the assault. Police say there is no threat to the public.
“This investigation is very new and no other information will be released at this time,” said Sgt. Aaron Roed in an email.
A Vancouver Reddit post shared around 6 p.m. Monday evening noted the area had been blocked off and that the scene appeared “pretty bloody.” An graphic photo accompanying the post showed blood on the floor inside the shopping mall, near the entrance of Rexall and adjacent to vendor stalls, behind yellow police tape.
