Three weather systems are prevailing and would bring cloudy skies with scattered to light rains in some parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said yesterday.
PAGASA weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz said the trough or tail of a low-pressure area located outside the country’s area of responsibility is bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro.
The intertropical convergence zone, which is a breeding ground for potential tropical cyclones or LPA, will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao del Sur.
Dela Cruz said areas affected by the trough of the LPA and ITCZ are advised to be on alert for possible flash floods over low-lying areas or landslides over mountainous regions during severe thunderstorms.
