8,245 law graduates take 2019 Bar exams

A total of 8,245 law graduates are set to take the 2019 Bar examinations which will be administered by the Supreme Court, through the Office of the Bar Confidant, on Nov. 3, 10, 17, and 24 at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
Chairperson of this year’s examinations is SC Senior Associate Justice Estela M. Perlas-Bernabe.
Subjects covered in the Bar examinations are Political Law, Labor Law, Civil Law, Taxation Law, Mercantile Law, Criminal Law, Remedial Law, and Legal and Judicial Ethics and Practical Exercises.
Earlier, the SC had approved a policy to designate two examiners per subject for the 2019 Bar examinations.
Previous examinations had only one examiner per Bar subject.
The new policy provides:
“Every Bar subject shall be divided into two parts. Each examiner shall be assigned a specific scope to formulate questions.
“During the examinations, each Bar examinee shall be given one questionnaire containing Parts 1 and 2 and two conjoined booklets (marked Part 1 and 2), where answers corresponding to each part of the questionnaire shall be written.
“Each booklet shall contain a card wherein the grade or rating received by the Bar examinee for each part shall be indicated. After the examinations, Part 1 booklets will be released to the first examiner simultaneous with the release of Part 2 booklets to the second examiner for checking in order to expedite the checking of booklets while ensuring the quality of assessing them.”
In a press statement, the SC Public Information Office released a contingency plan in case of heavy rains and flooding in the four Sundays of the examinations:
1. In case of heavy rains, 10 SC buses shall be available to transport examinees and duty personnel to UST from several pick-up points in the morning of a Bar examination day. The buses shall be stationed as early as 4:30 a.m. and will leave exactly at 5 a.m. in the following areas – Quezon City Memorial Circle (two buses); Park and Ride, Lawton, Ma
