The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy 35,618 policemen and 99,716 additional forces nationwide to secure Filipinos during the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
The force multipliers will be composed of Bantay Bayan volunteers, barangay tanod (village police), medical volunteers, and fire and rescue volunteers.
They will assist the policemen in public safety operations in cemeteries, major tourist destinations, airports, bus terminals and seaports.
PNP spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said a full alert status would be raised nationwide on Monday.
Banac said Police Assistance Desks would be installed in ports and terminals, and assistance centers would be set up in Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares.
Meanwhile, National Capital Region Police Office chief Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said he would declare a red alert status in Metro Manila next week.
Sinas added that he would discuss with district directors measures to also enhance security plans for the Southeast Asian Games.
