A man who was shot in Chilliwack late on Monday has died.

In a prepared statement, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Keith Baldwin, 27, had been in hospital since he was shot on Oct. 21 and had been taken off life support.

Police in Chilliwack found the injured Fletcher after being called to Fletcher Street and Yale Road very early Tuesday morning.

At the time, Const. Harrison Mohr said the shooting appeared targeted, but police had not identified whether Baldwin was involved in the drug trade or had connections with gangs.

Police are now asking for information from anyone who had information about what Baldwin was doing on Oct. 21.

There have been two other shootings over the past week.

On Tuesday night, Oct. 21, a man was shot while waiting at Esso gas station in the 31700-block of South Fraser Way at 7:30 p.m. He survived the targeted shooting.

IHIT is also investigating the suspicious death of a notary public in Richmond on Oct. 18.

Stephen Chong, 58, was found dead inside his business in the 8200-block of Granville Avenue at about 5:30 p.m.

“Mr. Stephen Chong was a notary public in the Richmond community with no record of criminality,” Sgt. Frank Jang said earlier. “Our investigators are working hard to determine motive.”

Chong had no criminal history or known links to gangs or organized crime.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to contact IHIT at 1-877-551-4448.
