BACOLOD CITY – Newly-assigned City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) head Police Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido told the people here that they should not fear his presence in the city.

This, after President Duterte, in his speech at The Manila Hotel last week, ordered Espenido “to kill everybody.”

“Bacolod is badly hit now. I placed Espenido there, yung kinatakutan nila na pulis,” he said.

“Sabi ko, ‘Go there and you are free to kill everybody.’ T*** i**** ‘yan. ‘Start killing them. Dalawa na tayo magpa-preso,’” he added.

Espenido‘s name made headlines following his aggressive campaign against illegal drugs in the past years.

Espenido, in a press briefing at the Bacolod City Government Center yesterday, said the president has its own privilege and prerogative to say anything.

“Sa ground tayo naman namamahala, huwag kayong matakot, lahat naman tayo may Panginoon, relax lang,” Espenido said.

“We are mandated and we are obeying lawful orders,” he said.

“We should not just be a law abiding citizen, but should also be a law abiding Christian,” he added.

Espenido, who is also the deputy city director for operations of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said the people should trust the police and the government because they are mandated and protected by God.

“Huwag niyo naman unahan. Nagtatrabaho ang police para maubos lahat ng drugs. We will do our best. Magtulungan tayo,” he said.
