Typhoon “Perla” (international name “Neoguri”) is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility within 24 hours while another tropical cyclone is being monitored east of the country.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration weather specialist Benison Estareja said Perla will likely be outside the PAR Sunday night or Monday morning.
Perla still has no direct effect over any part of the country, but the northeasterly surface wind flow may continue to bring occasional gusts over extreme Northern Luzon until Monday.
Around 10 a.m. Sunday, the typhoon was 750 kilometers east-northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 170 kph.
It is moving north-northeast slightly faster at 20 kph, and may gradually weaken into a low-pressure area Tuesday.
