8990 Holdings Inc. President and Chief Executive Officer Willibaldo “Willie” Uy passed away on October 15, the listed real estate developer announced on Wednesday. He was 59.
In a disclosure, 8990 said it “deeply mourns” Uy’s death and that it “will continue to remember and appreciate his achievements for, and contributions to, the company.”
The firm did not disclose the cause of death, but The Manila Times learned that Uy succumbed to a heart attack.
Chief Operating Office Alexander Ace Sotto will take over Uy’s duties until his replacement is named.
Uy was named 8990 president in January 2018.
Prior to this, he was president of real estate firms Asian Plaza Inc. and Phinma Property Holdings Corp., and senior vice president of Philippine Investment-Management Consultants Inc.
He was a board member of the Mariposa Foundation Inc. and American Home Appliance Marketing Corp.
Uy was also chairman of Rockwell Center Association Inc.
Uy finished his undergraduate degree in marketing management at De La Salle University and his master’s degree in business administration at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business.
