COTABATO CITY: The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is pushing for agriculture and fisheries as its top industries for foreign and local investments given its vast lands and rich water resources said Minister Abuamri Taddik of the BARMM-Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (BARMM-MTIT) during the First Investments Priorities Plan (IPP) public consultation last Monday in Cotabato City.

Regional Board of Investments (RBoI) chairman, lawyer Ishak Mastura, on Tuesday said this would be the first IPP that will be approved and implemented in BARMM during the transition period from the now-defunct Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao after the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) in a two-part plebiscite held early this year.

Mastura said a series of IPP consultations would be organized region-wide as part of the agency’s effort to reach out for more people, the local government units, business sectors, investors and other stakeholders.

“We encourage them to participate and help us identify investment priority areas to be incorporated in the BARMM IPP List,” Mastura added.

The BARMM IPP is a list of economic activities that will serve as basis for granting of incentives to qualified companies that will be investing in the region.

Eshan Karl Mabang, RBOI executive director said the BARMM IPP List would be anchored on the 12-point agenda of the Bangsamaro government aligned with the Philippine Development Plan of the administration.
