THE Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), ordered the camps of Vice President Leonor “Leni” Robredo and former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., to comment in 20 days on the preliminary recount report on three provinces where alleged fraud took place during the May 2016 elections.
The high court, before going on recess, ordered to release the Committee Report on the Revision of Ballots where recounts were performed in Camarines Sur, Iloilo and Negros Oriental.
The Supreme Court ordered the parties to file their memorandum on the third cause of action on the annulment of votes in the Mindanao provinces.
Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa, who has penned the ruling on the case filed by Marcos, recommended its dismissal without proceeding to the next cause of action, which was to determine if there was indeed “fraud”.
Earlier on Tuesday, about 1,000 Robredo and Marcos supporters gathered in front of the Supreme Court to await the promulgation of the PET.
The Manila Police District (MPD) said there were about 400 Marcos supporters and 600 for Robredo. JOMAR CANLAS, JOSHUA VERA CRUZ
