“Over the years we’ve seen an increase in the travel segment or category. So, it’s really being relevant. It’s being able to cater to the needs of our customers, being able to actually address their lifestyle. So, if it’s travel that [cardholders are] clamoring for, it’s those things that we try to package [for],” Jenny Lacerna, BPI senior vice president for unsecured lending and cards and product and sales group head, said on the sidelines of the fair’s launch in Makati City on Thursday.

Seven carriers — All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, Eva Airways, Jeju Air, Qantas Airways, Thai Airways and Turkish Airlines — will offer international travel deals at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati from October 18 to 20, while the eighth — Cebu Pacific — will offer domestic ones.

Also joining are international booking platform Klook and El Nido Resorts.

Cebu Pacific, Cathay Pacific, Eva Air and Klook will also take part in the Cebu leg of the fair, to be held at The Gallery in Ayala Center Cebu on October 26 and 27.

“Our customers are actually spread across the Philippines and there’s also a big chunk of our customers [who are] residing in Cebu. That’s why we also opened it up to Cebu customers,” Lacerna explained.

For top BPI cardholders, they can go to preview sales in Manila on October 17 and Cebu on October 25. During the preview, they can get a 3-percent rebate using their BPI Mastercard credit card and a P3,000 gift card using their BPI Visa credit card. Both are subject to a minimum spending requirement.

“The benefits of being a BPI credit cardholder goes beyond being able to book your trips at special rates. When you get to your destination, using your BPI credit card for your international transactions can actually help you save money with our very low foreign currency conversion rate
of 1.85 percent,” Lacerna said in a statement at the launch.
