The pieces on offer at the upcoming Louis Vuitton Savoir-Faire experience in Vancouver won’t be items that are readily on display in one of the French fashion brand’s boutiques.
Instead, the exquisite offering will include limited-edition designs, bespoke creations and a curated selection of the iconic hard-sided luggage items that the brand has been renowned for since its founder Louis Vuitton first introduced them in Paris in 1854. Several of the creations expected to be on offer at the event have only recently been made available in Canada, while others will be among the most rare and exceptional designs Louis Vuitton creates for its customers.
The event marks the first time the full Savoir-Faire experience has been in Vancouver, the last time an edited offering of “exclusive and rare” pieces was made available to shoppers being at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver boutique in 2017.
And the event, which takes place from Oct. 18 to 24 at a private residence, is accessible by appointment only.
Situated within the 48th-floor penthouse of The Private Residences at Hotel Georgia (667 Howe St.), the host apartment features a 360-degree panoramic view of Vancouver, according to a news release from the brand. Within each room of the astonishingly spacious, 8,000-square-foot living space, shoppers will encounter the selection of iconic Louis Vuitton designs, each one chosen as an exemplary representation of the French fashion house’s “diverse métiers.”
By definition, a métier is an “area of activity in which one excels,” according to Merriam-Webster.com. And, at Louis Vuitton, that expertise is employed throughout all facets of handcrafting of its luxury creations — with more than 30 different design and craftsmanship métiers umbrellaed within the various Louis Vuitton “houses” — including material cutting, assembly, finishing touches and more.
Also on display during the Vancouver event will be pieces from Objets Nomades, Louis Vuitton’s objects and furniture collection that sees the company partner with a roster of renowned international designers on unique pieces that embody Louis Vuitton’s trademark savoir-faire. (Think a bold red Diamond Armchair dreamed up by Dutch designer Marcel Wanders that retails for $70,500, and a glass-topped Anemona Table by the Italian artist-designer duo behind Atelier Biagetti for $118,000.) The Objets Nomades assemblage will mark the first time the pieces have debuted in Vancouver.
Shoppers who are eager to make their Louis Vuitton selections even more unique during the Savoir-Faire event will also be able to personalize their pieces via an on-site hand-painting service. An artisan at the event will be available to customize an individual seal on select hard-sided pieces, according to the brand. Custom drawings of made-to-order hard-sided items, as well as exotic pieces, will also be on offer.
