9 Central Visayas cops fired

CEBU CITY – The internal cleansing undertaken by the Philippine National Police-Central Visayas (PRO 7) has led to the dismissal of nine policemen.
Seven policemen were dismissed last year, while two were fired this year.
Data released by the PRO 7 said the nine policemen were dismissed for conduct unbecoming of a police officer after they tested positive for illegal drug use.
Dismissed in 2018 were Police Corporal Jose Marri Garcia, Police Patrolman Merlo Daclan Laborte, Police Staff Sgt. Joffrey Mulat, Police Patrolman Jayrome Solano, Police Patrolman Frances Maucesa, Police Corporal Gilfredo Carungay, and Greggy Gica.
Dismissed this year were Police Patrolman Joseph Sala Tabo-tabo and Police Master Sgt. Darwin Minor Gonzales.
Police Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas, chief of PRO 7, said the crackdown on erring policemen is a continuing process.
The PRO 7 chief admitted that there are still policemen involved in recycling of seized illegal drug or those so-called “ninja cops.”
