John Lloyd Cruz may surprise appearance

JOHN Lloyd Cruz is back on the big screen.

After more than two years in hiatus, the actor pulled out a surprise appearing in the last frame of the trailer for “Culion,” among hopefuls vying for the last four slots in this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

Prior to the launch of the trailer, the producers never mentioned nor hinted about the actor being connected to the project.

Note, John Lloyd last appeared on film via the movie “A Second Chance” way back in 2015.

Producer Shandii Bacolod related they didn’t have a hard time asking John Lloyd to join the project, saying they have a “good working relationship” and that the actor is also friends with the rest of the cast and crew.

Shandii didn’t add details about John Lloyd’s role in the film but maintained it is “very important.”

Directed by Alvin Yapan and written by Ricky Lee, “Culion” stars Iza Calzado, Jasmine Curtis, and Meryll Soriano.

The film is supposedly about three women afflicted with leprosy, living life like virtual prisoners in Culion.

One of them, Anna, is hopeful for a cure.
