Pagasa: Metro Manila, parts of Luzon to have rain for Tuesday afternoon

MANILA, Philippines — Residents of Metro Manila and nearby Luzon provinces may have to ready their umbrellas as moderate to heavy rain is expected on Tuesday afternoon, the state weather bureau said.

In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 1 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that moderate to heavy rain with lightning and strong winds are expected over Metro Manila, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Batangas within the next two hours.

Meanwhile, the same conditions will also be felt in the provinces of Tarlac (San Clemente, Camiling, Mayontoc, San Jose), Zambales (Subic, Olongapo), Pampanga (Mabalacat, Angeles City, Porac), Rizal (Tanay),  and Quezon (Mauban, Sampaloc, Lucban, Tayabas) which may persist within two hours and may affect nearby areas.

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” the advisory read.

Pagasa earlier said Typhoon “Onyok” left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) Monday night.

However, Onyok’s trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain over Batanes.   /muf
