Makeover: Counsellor embraces change and self care with new look

Lindsay Wilde, 58, is a counsellor and wanted a makeover to embrace change and self care. Lindsay has very thick and naturally wavy hair. Her previous look felt tired and drab and she wanted a look that enhanced her appearance.
I wanted to brighten up her colour, and placed foil highlight slices in a starburst placement around her head — a great way of brightening up the hair with minimal maintenance.
I used a gentle silk infused decolourizer that lifts and tones the hair in one step, creating a beautiful beige blonde finish. I applied a cool-brown permanent colour to her background foundation for depth and to eliminate the coppery undertones from her previous colour.
I shampooed her hair with Oribe Gold Lust Shampoo and Conditioner to repair and restore as her hair was stressed. I then added Supershine Moisturizing Cream as a leave-in for the ends to help add moisture and shine. I sectioned the hair and cut it into a directional forward shape, maintaining length in the front.
Wilde struggles with the thickness of her hair so I incorporated internal layers. This layering technique helps to debulk, add body and manage the shape for both air dried styles or blown out looks.
Before styling, I sprayed Royal Blowout for smoothing and heat styling, and to create the bouncy and smooth shape. To finish, I used Oribe Flash Form Spray Wax to create weightless and buildable texture.
Makeup
Wilde wanted a refresh on her makeup, and took a makeup lesson with us. We showed her how to enhance her natural beauty with easy-to-use products, makeup brushes and techniques to suit her everyday needs.
We evened out her complexion with a sheer coverage foundation then used peaches and cream tones to warm up her face. On her eyes, we opted to use shades of plum, nude and peachy pink to enhance her hazel green eyes, and finished the look with a neutral lipstick.
