Barangay kagawad, companion nabbed in Manila drug sting
MANILA, Philippines— A barangay kagawad (village councilor) in Sampaloc, Manila and her companion were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Manila on Thursday night.
A report from the Sampaloc police station identified the village official as Diana Guiao. A certain Benjamin Velasquez was also arrested in the operation.
At around 10 p.m., police officers accosted the suspects after the duo sold crystal meth to an undercover cop on Blumentritt Street near corner J. Fajardo Street in Barangay 537 Zone 53 in Sampaloc, Manila.
Seized were sachets of suspected crystal meth worth P1,800 and marked money worth P300.
The suspects are now under police custody and will be subjected for inquest proceedings at Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
