Vancouver man arrested in connection with West End homicide

A 23-year-old man has been arrested as Vancouver police investigating a death in the West End Tuesday as a homicide.

Shortly after 8 p.m. there was a confrontation inside a home at 1125 Pendrell Street. Twenty-nine-year-old Kyle Vincent Gabriel was found injured and taken to hospital, where he later died.

On Wednesday night, VPD officers arrested a 23-year-old Vancouver man near Pendrell and Thurlow streets.

Police allege that during the arrest, the suspect assaulted a police officer and tried to injure a police dog.

No charges related to the homicide have been laid, however police say charges of assaulting a police officer and assaulting a police service dog have been recommended.
