President Duterte will no longer appoint fired Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon to another government post after he decided to join the private sector.
The President bared that Faeldon has been tapped by a private corporation, without giving other details.
“Hindi na siguro. Private. May tumanggap na sa kanya. Private corporation,” Duterte said when asked if Faeldon will be given another government position.
The President recently fired Faeldon for disobeying his order not to allow the early release of heinous crime convicts under the Good Conduct Time Allowance law. Despite kicking him out of BuCor, the President maintained that he still believed in Faeldon, saying he is an upright person.
Aside from removing Faeldon, Duterte also called for the investigation of other BuCor officials by the Ombudsman over their alleged involvement in the questionable release of the inmates who were not supposedly covered by Republic Act No. 10592.
The law, signed in 2013, allows for reduced prison term for inmates due to good behavior. More than 1,000 inmates freed by GCTA law has been asked by the President to surrender to authorities.
