Man charged with series of attacks in Merritt

A 40-year-old man has been charged with a string of sex and firearms offences in connection with a series of attacks in Merritt last month.
Since early August, the RCMP says officers have been working with vulnerable members of the local community in relation to the actions of a violent individual who suddenly arrived in Merritt last month.
On Wednesday, the B.C. Prosecution Service charged Sevim Zakuti, 40, with forcible confinement, use of a firearm to commit and indictable offense, pointing a firearm, possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose, sexual assault with a firearm, sexual assault, possession of a firearm while prohibited, choking to overcome resistance and uttering threats.
He was located and arrested in the Lower Mainland early Thursday morning.
RCMP investigators believe there are more victims who have not yet talked to investigators.
Zakuti, who is known to drive high-end luxury cars, is a white male with a tattoo of dragon on his left chest and lion on his right.
Police say Zakuti was also recently in the Kamloops and North Okanagan areas.
