At first, the 95-degree temperature and the 71% humidity with no chance or rain seems daunting. It’s that type of heat that seems to suck the very life from your cells. And even though the months change, the heat seems reluctant to leave. Time passes, it just gets hotter.
Despite the soul-sucking humidity that not even the mosquitoes can tolerate and the sun from that Mario game teaming up to torture those of us here in the Deep South, there is a sense something is coming. It’s a change — that sense of anticipation that slowly energizes the air. It’s that spark of excitement that’s in the barely-there breeze. It’s in the hum of voices as we celebrate LSU’s first win of the season. It’s in that subtle moment where the sun is going down earlier and earlier.
Halloween is the second-best season in Louisiana for dressing up in outrageous costumes, eating candy, and having tons of fun. We celebrate the cooler weather (prematurely by Louisiana standards) and the changing of the season from that sticky heat that fogs your glasses to a cooler and refreshing atmosphere.
It is now the dawn of the season of pumpkin spice lattes, candy corn, football, good beer, and spooky music.
Speaking of Halloween, Tesla owner Jennifer Street is creating her own version of Elon’s cyborg dragon. Well, kind of. It’s a cuter version with pretty eyes.
Jennifer is well known for her Tesla fan art and has created a number of 3D, graphic, and animated artworks.

She’s doing this for the Frunk and Treat Halloween event that her local Tesla Club, Tesla Owners Club of North Texas, is holding later this fall.
Jennifer also mentioned that her friends Jill Luigsis, the “sewologist,” and her husband Chris are helping her with the design and construction. So turning her Tesla into Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon is something that definitely needs teamwork.
Disclaimer: She will not be driving her Tesla while it’s in costume, for obvious safety reasons.
This idea started with a few sketches and is in the process of becoming a 3D Tesla version of Toothless.
She started with a to-scale drawing of their Model 3 with wings. She needed to do this to figure out the length of the wings.
One of the first projects that she started with was tracing the headlights. They are going to be the eyes of the dragon. Once she had this done, she was able to modify it when creating the actual eye.
Next up was the printing of the patterns for both the wing and the tail. She created a grid of images that were to be printed on a regular printer. Each rectangle represents a 6.5″×9″ piece of the puzzle. They are also numbered by the row and column they belong to. After this was done, each piece was cut and pieced together — painstakingly.

Jennifer’s Model 3 seems to be watching the making of her costume in human-like anticipation. 🙂
This is just one wing and it going to be 12 inches long:
Jennifer noted that there will need to be some minor modifications to accommodate a folding wing, but she and Jill have a plan.
This is a project in the making, so it is not yet complete. When it is, Jennifer will share her dragon with the world to see at the Frunk or Treat event in North Texas.
