Grab PH to add new features to app

Grab Philippines is again adding new features to its platform as it seeks to transform the ride-hailing app into a “super app.”
In an invitation to the media on Monday, the local unit of the ride-hailing company said it would introduce Grab Salon and Grab Hotels in the next three months. No other details on these features were disclosed.
“We at Grab have always prided ourselves to be the purveyor of the super app phenomenon in the Philippines and the greater Southeast Asia, and as a strong support er and enabler of small businesses and players, we have always employed the value of using our tech for good,” the firm said.
The official announcement on this, and on its partnership with industry players like PLDT Global and Ninja Van, is set for Thursday.
Grab has been enhancing its platform by introducing various services, including food delivery and e-payments.
Since launching its food-delivery service last November, Grab has partnered with more than 4,000 restaurants and continued to register growth. Grab President President
Brian Cu earlier said this service was contributing 10 percent to 12 percent to the company’s revenue pie.
Meanwhile, Grab’s mobile wallet GrabPay got a boost in April after the firm partnered with SM Investments Corp. for the deployment of its quick reponse technology and online acceptance payments, starting with SM cinemas.
The Grab app boasts of more than 125 million downloads in the region, and is found in one in two smartphones in the country.
