West Vancouver police are investigating after $2,000 in damage was discovered at a Cineplex Cinema theatre after a late-night screening of the movie Hobbs & Shaw.
Const. Kevin Goodmurphy of the West Van police said the damage was likely caused during a late showing of the Fast & Furious spinoff that screened Aug. 16 at the Park Royal Cineplex.
After audience members left the theatre, Cineplex staff discovered “extensive damage” to some of the VIP theatre’s furniture. Cineplex VIP theatres include button-controlled reclining cushioned armchairs, built-in swivel snack tables and drink-holders. The damage is believed to be in the neighbourhood of $2,000.
Goodmurphy said police are now seeking three men shown on surveillance footage who may have information about the incident. Anyone who recognizes them, or who may have information about how the damage was caused, is asked to contact Det. Const. Sandra Rijken at 604-925-7300.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is an American action film starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, reprising their characters from the original Fast & Furious film franchise. The film opened Aug. 2 and has grossed US$442 million worldwide to date.
