Reconstruction of mount data hotel pushed

BAUKO, Mountain Province: Mayor Abraham Akilit has proposed the reconstruction of the historic Mount Data Hotel instead of the programmed rehabilitation and improvement of the government-owned accommodation facility. The mayor pointed out the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (Tieza) should already study the possibility of a much bigger structure to accommodate more visitors while maintaining its aesthetics and historical value. “We urge Tieza officers to work out the implementation of the programmed rehabilitation of the hotel and consider our proposal to instead construct a much bigger accommodation facility capable of accommodating the foreign and domestic tourists flocking to the province year-round,” Akilit said. The hotel is located within the over 5,000-hectare Mount Data National Park that straddles the mountain ranges from Acop, Tublay, Benguet up to Bontoc, Mountain Province.
