A recent Arctic cold front and accompanying rain through the northwest of B.C. has helped reduce wildfire activity as well as rescind an evacuation alert for the area northwest of Atlin.

The B.C. Wildfire Service says the Tagish fire near Atlin no longer threatens any structures and crews are now working to demobilize equipment. The fire will continue to be monitored.

• The Barrington River fire, about 50 kilometres west of Telegraph Creek, and covering 4,600 hectares, has seen a downturn in activity and will be closely monitored in the next few days.

• The Volcano Creek complex consists of six fires burning just west of Bell II — which is north of Meziadin Junction — and is now under control.

• Another situation north of Telegraph Creek that featured holdover fires that had smouldered underground over the winter and now range in size from less than one hectare to up to 40 hectares. All the fires are being monitored.

• The Mehan Lake fire, which a few weeks ago had spread to more than 22 square kilometres, is under control and firefighters are no longer onsite.
