A 46-year-old Vancouver man has been arrested and charged in connection with a New Westminster bank robbery. The TD Bank in Columbia Square Plaza was robbed by a lone man on Aug. 3 at 9:15 a.m.
New West police arrived at the scene and searched the area with a dog team but failed to find the suspect who had fled on foot. Video surveillance, witness interviews and forensic analysis led police to 46-year-old Vancouver resident Gordon Tremblay, who was already in custody in connection with a string of robberies committed in Vancouver earlier this month.
New West cops requested a warrant, and Tremblay was charged with the Aug. 3 bank robbery.
Tremblay possesses a lengthy criminal record that includes multiple convictions for robbery, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and other crimes.
He remains in custody until his next appearance in Vancouver provincial court on Aug. 30.
