First, leopard print became a neutral. Then, the animal print trend exploded to encompass tiger, zebra, snake, giraffe, and even Dalmatian prints. Now, because obviously the fashion world can’t get enough of the animal kingdom, it’s all about animal prints in fun and fantastical hues.
From red and blue cheetah spots to mix-and-match tiger stripes, Rebecca Tay hunts down five animal-print pieces that make a statement right now.
Is it a leopard, a tiger, or a zebra? Who cares when it’s this fun? This denim style by Danish brand GANNI looks great worn as a buttoned-up shirt-dress or open, with separates and Doc Martens, but more than anything, we love its neon, patchwork take on plenty of animal prints.

You can’t go past a fun and sexy jumpsuit — especially one that features red leopard spots like this ‘Tabata’ style by Sunday Best. Team with Converse and a black shoulder bag for the weekend, or pep it up for a night out with heeled sandals and a slick of lippy.

Designed in collaboration with swimwear and lingerie brand Love Stories, this tiger-print ruffled bikini is both subtle and statement. Its ruffled straps offer a hint of girly sophistication, while the belted bottoms have a slightly sporty touch.

What’s pink, has a cool, boxy cut, and features cheetahs all over it? This printed top by J.Crew, that’s what. Featuring a unique cheetah print, the top was created in partnership with Ratti, an Italian company known for its yarn-dyed fabrics, and is set to become a piece you reach for, time and again.
J.Crew, jcrew.com | $144 ($112.99)
Ideal when you need a piece you can just throw on and go run around in, all day long, this cropped style blurs the lines between loose-fit dress and sexy jumpsuit. Go with either: it looks as good with sneakers and a lightweight cardigan as it does with heeled sandals for a party.
