An investigation has been launched after a teen was found suffering from fatal injuries in Walnut Grove and later died in hospital.

According to B.C. Coroners spokesman Andy Watson, the boy was found at Langley’s Walnut Grove Community Centre on Wednesday evening and was taken to hospital but did not survive.

“The coroners service’s investigation will look to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his death,” Watson said in an email.

The B.C. Coroners service did not share other details and will not be releasing the teen’s identity.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C., which looks into police-involved cases that result in death or injury, will also be reviewing the circumstances of the death, as “police were in proximity” at the time the teen was found at the community centre.

No further details have been shared. Langley RCMP has referred all questions to the IIOBC.
