Pagasa: It’s a rainy Tuesday due to monsoon, thunderstorms

MANILA, Philippines — It will be a rainy Tuesday for the western part of the country, including Metro Manila, due to the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” and localized thunderstorms, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin issued on Monday, the state weather bureau said monsoon rains would prevail over Bataan and Zambales provinces on Tuesday.
It warned of possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate and at times heavy rains over the two areas.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be overhead in Metro Manila, Mimaropa, Calabarzon, Cordillera Administrative Region, the Visayas, the Bicol region and the rest of Central Luzon, also due to the southwest monsoon.
Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the southwest monsoon’s thick clouds were currently concentrated over the West Philippine Sea, Sulu Sea, western Luzon and western Visayas.
Localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated showers over Mindanao and the rest of Luzon on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the low pressure area earlier monitored over the West Philippine Sea has already exited the Philippine area of responsibility, Aurelio said.
It is currently moving toward China and Vietnam.
