President Duterte remains satisfied with the Cabinet’s performance and expects them to continue performing their jobs with “dedication and efficiency,” Malacañang said yesterday.
Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo welcomed a survey showing the record-high public satisfaction with the President’s official family.
“The Palace is pleased to learn about the net satisfaction rating of the President’s Cabinet which rose from ‘good’ at +44 in March to ‘very good’ in June of this year with a new record-high of +51,” Panelo said.
“As we congratulate the individuals of the President’s official family, the people’s favorable satisfaction on their work should propel them further to continue performing their jobs with dedication and efficiency as they deliver genuine change for the benefit of our nation during the remainder of the President’s term,” he said.
The survey, conducted by the Social Weather Stations last month, showed 64 percent of the respondents are satisfied and 13 percent were dissatisfied with the Cabinet. The net satisfaction rating reached +51 for the entire Cabinet in the June survey.
Panelo said the latest poll result was “remarkable as it is the first time that a Cabinet received a ‘very good’ rating in recent memory.”
“To the Cabinet members, this survey is important as it is demonstrative of the sentiment of the Filipino people, indicating that they are starting to experience a working government that addresses their welfare,” he said.
“The Office of the President attributes this to the hard work and dedication of the members of the President’s Cabinet, as well as to the support being rendered by their respective staff, in undertaking actions to fulfill the directives of the Chief Executive,” he added.
Panelo said the President is satisfied with the Cabinet’s performance.
“Haven’t you heard him praise and commend members of the Cabinet heading line departments that means he is satisfied. He commended them publicly.”
The President praised a number of Cabinet members during his recent State-of-the-Nation Address.
Despite the President’s satisfaction with the Cabinet, Panelo said a reorganization of the Cabinet is still looming.
He said the President mentioned plans to transfer Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol to the Mindanao Development Authority. Duterte wanted Piñol to be his point man with the caretaker government of the Bangsamoro autonomous region to hasten its development.
Panelo said the President is also expected to appoint three new Cabinet secretaries when proposals to create a number of departments will be passed into law. (Genalyn Kabiling)
