The 2018 socioeconomic report, which measures the performance of the government in terms of hitting its target under the Philippine Development Plan (PDP), is expected to be released by end-July or early next month, the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said.
“We are completing the socioeconomic report which takes the score of the administration’s performance in 2018 relative to our PDP 2017-2022,” NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia said during the post-SONA briefing at the Philippine Information Agency on Tuesday.
“This socioeconomic report looks at the accomplishments, the hits and the misses of the administration vis-a-vis the targets set in our PDP in 2018 and on the basis of this analysis we are going to midterm update of the PDP,” he added.
The PDP 2017-2022 which was launched in 2017, is the government’s blueprint for the country’s development. It seeks to lay the foundation to achieve inclusive growth and a globally competitive economy.
Pernia said the socioeconomic report will be the basis of the midterm update of the PDP.
“The socioeconomic report will be basis of the update of the PDP which will be produced by November so that we will have a fresh start in terms of the second half of the administration, what are the adjustments needed on the basis of accomplishments, the hits and the misses that were marked in 2018,” he said.
Pernia said among those included in the socioeconomic report are the investments in human capital, education, health and nutrition, employment data, and poverty matrix.
“These will be the basis for to what extent more efforts will have to be exerted so that the targets for 2022 can be achieved starting this midterm,” he said.
“We are also going to look at what are the infrastructure projects that need to be pushed harder to be accelerated so that as many as possible these infra projects will be completed by the end of the term of the president or well underway in terms of getting them started so that the succeeding admin can complete them on time,” added Pernia.
