Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) confiscated Tuesday some P1 million worth of suspected cocaine and liquid ecstasy from a male freelance model and a woman during a buy-bust operation in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City..
Initial PDEA reports revealed that Aaron Cruz, 25, a model and product endorser; and Geraldine Vitto, 22, were nabbed during the operation.
In a report to PDEA Deputy Director-General for Operations Gregorio Pimentel, PDEA Agent Wilfredo Alagabai Jr. said the buy-bust operation yielded 84 pieces of ecstasy tablets, eight medium packs of suspected cocaine and eight bottles of liquid ecstasy.
Alagabai said the operation was carried out on 36th Street at Bonifacio Global City in Barangay Forth Bonifacio, Taguig City.
PDEA Agent Abdulgani Abdulsukor said the operation pushed through after several weeks of intense surveillance on Cruz.
PDEA personnel found out that Cruz was a grand finalist of a male beauty pageant of a popular noontime show, freelance model and product endorser.
For her part, Vitto admitted carrying the package which contained the illegal drugs but insisted she was only asked to bring it to somebody without knowing its contents.
She claimed that she agreed to the deal without being aware of the contents of the package or illegal transaction due to her unfavorable financial predicament.
The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (Chito A. Chavez)
